On the 1st to 3rd November, 2019, The Vale College will be hosting the Model National Conference. The MNC will simulate a typical National Conference, and is aimed at addressing the challenges of a modern state. The youth are the future of Nigeria and they must be trained to address the peculiar challenges of our nation, identify the panacea to those challenges and chart a glorious future for the country. We cannot move from where we are to where we should be without moving ourselves. Discussions at the conference will no doubt enhance the public speaking skills of the students.
At the opening ceremony, there will be three keynote speakers who are young, vibrant and have won international awards. The Speakers are: Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin (Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly), Yewande Mayomi-Akinola (Multi-Award Winner) and Faith Abiodun (ALAMAU Convener, South Africa)
The delegates will come from schools but will represent each of the 36 states in Nigeria at the conference. Each delegate will be given membership of a committee and prepare a position paper to be presented and discussed with other members of the committee. The position paper will address the peculiar challenges of the state the delegate is representing. A resolution will be passed by each committee which will be presented at the Plenary to be attended by all the delegates.
There will be a parallel session to be attended by the School Advisors where topical national issues and solutions will be discussed.
All the decisions made at the conference will be compiled and sent to the Federal Government and all the 36 state governments for consideration in their policy formation. All the delegates will have their names and signatures on the final document.
This is a way to prepare our youth for future leadership, and fully socialize and integrate them into the Nigerian Identity. It is a catalyst to make them transform our country into the Nigeria of their dreams.
All delegates will have exciting stories to tell their colleagues when they return to their respective schools.
We look forward to welcoming you.
