Our Mission

To be the first choice of parents and children who seek an excellent, modern education, boarding or day, in a co-educational environment, based on breadth of curriculum, sound discipline, independence of mind and service to the community.

The Vale College has a maximum capacity for 50 new students annually in JSS1 and fills existing vacancies in JSS2, SSS1, and SSS2. Every class in the college is divided into 2 arms of not more than 25 students each.

Classes are small, and the staff can closely monitor the academic ability of each student. Lessons are supported by a carefully constructed “Enrichment” timetable and assessment for learning, which allows for further discussion between teacher and student. Students are encouraged through positive reinforcement to excel.

While high academic standards are a priority, we believe that by educating the whole child, we expose the inherent qualities and potential in each one. We, therefore, offer a wide range of co-curricular and robust sporting activities. We also encourage our students to explore the spiritual and moral dimensions of life.

Students are presented for the Oyo State and the National Examinations Council (NECO) Junior Secondary School Certificate Examinations, which they take in JSS3.

Senior students (SSS1-SSS3) are prepared for both the West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), for which they are presented in SSS3. However, our curriculum is designed to include the JAMB examination syllabus.

The College prepares students for the JSSC examination in the following subjects:

English, Mathematics, Agric Science, Fine Art, Christian Religious Knowledge, Business Studies, Physical and Health Education, Home Economics, Basic Science, Basic Technology, Yoruba / Hausa / Igbo, Social Studies, French and Music.

* At the end of JSS3, each student is presented for a maximum of 12 subjects (NBEM) and 13 subjects for the JSSCE (Oyo State)

Subjects offered at the Senior Secondary School level are:

English Language, Literature in English, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Yoruba, Commerce, French, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agric Science,Government, Technical Drawing, Economics, Food and Nutrition, Accounts and Christian Religious Studies.

* History, Hausa and Igbo can be added depending on demand.

All SSS1 Year 1 students take 11-12 subjects. All SSS2 students must pass 9 relevant subjects to proceed to SSS3. SSS2 students are also forbidden to take any external examinations.

Students are assessed continuously, and reports of the continuous assessment are available to parents twice a term: at mid-term for viewing and in written form at the end of the term, with the examination results. A comprehensive report with comments is issued at the end of the term.
