We are a small, co-educational private school in Ibadan, offering a superior education in a highly supportive environment. All faculty members have earned bachelor degrees in specialized areas of study. Many of our teachers hold Master’s degrees, with a range of subjects represented. Our committed teachers encourage independent thinking and superior work habits, while providing constant support.

What is the pastoral system like at The Vale College?

Pastoral care means we use a holistic approach to address the personal, emotional, social, intellectual and moral needs of every student. As a result, the students show genuine concern for each other and grow strongly in self-awareness and self-esteem. This is achieved through a layer of resources, the class teacher, the mentorship system, the school psychologists and the school chapel.

Does the school accept students throughout the school year?

Students can start at any date before the mid-term break of the second term. Applications at later times are considered on an individual basis. Students are not admitted into the twelfth grade (SS3).

How do I begin the process of admission for my child?

You can obtain an admission form into The Vale College at a fee of N12,500 from the school or you can download one online. Once the completed form is returned, the admission officer will schedule the child for a highly competitive entrance examination. An interview is conducted for successful candidates and their parents. A letter of admission is issued upon fulfilment of all conditions and admission confirmed.

From what age does The Vale College accept students?

The Vale College, Ibadan is open to all students from age 10-16. Your child has to be 10 by September of the admission year. He/She must have also completed Basic 5 or 6.

What are the school hours?

We are open from Monday through Friday throughout the school year. The school day begins at 07:40 and ends at 16:45. We observe all public holidays as announced by the Federal Government.

Are there after-school activities?

An extensive programme of after-school co-curricular activities, sports and clubs enrich The Vale experience.

Do students wear uniforms?

Yes, all students from JSS1 to SS3 are required to wear the school uniform.

Do you provide lunch?

Yes, we provide healthy, nutritious cook meals for our students.

Does The Vale College have boarding facilities?

Yes, we provide boarding facilities with live-in house officials.

How secure is the school premises?

We take the security of our lives and property very seriously. Our gates are well secured. We have CCTV coverage, adequate police surveillance and security personnel that ensure this at all times.

What is the standard class size?

Our standard class size is 25 students.

Are all classes taught in English?

Yes, all classes are taught in English (except language classes).

How do you care for the needs of your most able students?

We offer our most able students the chance to be involved in more stretching and challenging activities, providing extension, enrichment and acceleration within the curriculum and within extra-curricular activities.

Is learning support available?

Yes, the special educational needs of students within specific learning difficulties are addressed either individually or in small groups.

How are parents made aware of their children’s progress at The Vale College?

We schedule regular Parents’ Forum during which we review and discuss children’s progress. Midterm-breaks, Visiting days and end-of-term PTA meetings are also avenues for parents to meet with teachers to discuss their child’s progress. Communication with our parents is an important part of our program. Our school Principal and administrators are always available to talk with parents.

What certificate/qualification will my child leave with at the end of his schooling at The Vale College?

The qualifications we offer at The Vale College are the West African Examination Council (WAEC) certificate and the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE).

Will my child be able to gain entry into A-level colleges and Universities around the world?

Yes, The Vale College students have been successfully accepted by prestigious colleges in the UK, USA and worldwide. However, a majority of our students progress to the UK. We are proud of our ability to best help students fulfil their potential for higher education admission.
